On Sunday 4th June, local people met in the Village Hall and enjoyed a charity ‘soup lunch’ provided by an enthusiastic group of volunteers.
The funds raised were sent to the Disaster Emergency Committee to support work in relieving the famine that is currently affecting millions of people in East Africa. Donations from those attending the lunch reached a total of £1,030.
An international agency, associated with a member of the organising group, has offered a further $1,000 to support the efforts of the Kippen volunteers. Taking all funds together, and with the associated Gift Aid, this event has generated a total of £2,000.
Many thanks to all those who willingly gave their time and their cooking skills. Thanks also to those who attended and donated generously in support of people suffering extreme hardship.
